The 15th Seoul International PRIDE Film Festival (SIPFF, Festival Director KIM JHO Gwang-soo) has announced three official pitching projects and the first completed film of its pre-production support program, the PRIDE FILM PROJECT.

The 2025 PRIDE FILM PROJECT pitching selections are Mirror Asks by JANG Tae-geon(Director), When the Moon Rises by KIM Dong-yoon(Director), and RAW ME by KIM Jae-hoon(Director). These projects will be publicly pitched during the festival, with the final selection and award to be announced at the Closing Ceremony. The selected project will receive full production support—from development to post-production—and premiere at the 16th Seoul International PRIDE Film Festival next year.

The PRIDE FILM PROJECT is Korea’s only program dedicated to discovering and supporting emerging queer filmmakers. Since its inception in 2013, it has continued to inject new creativity and vitality into Korea’s queer film industry. From June 13 to August 21, 2025, the program received 30 project submissions, from which three were selected through an internal review for their strong scripts, production potential, and alignment with the 20-minute queer short film format.

Through the 2024 PRIDE FILM PROJECT, this year’s festival presents After the Storm by SHIM Na-yoon(Director).
The film portrays various forms of love, family, and growth. Thirteen-year-old So-hee travels to a seaside town to reunite with her estranged father and meets his male partner, confronting unfamiliar emotions and relationships. SHIM Na-yoon(Director), who previously directed Kkogji (2019) and I Smoke You (2023), is acclaimed for her delicate portrayal of human relationships and emotional nuance. In this film, she captures the confusion and tenderness of adolescence, depicting chosen families formed through love and acceptance beyond blood ties.

Since 2016, the PRIDE FILM PROJECT has evolved beyond simple funding to serve as a film academy that supports every stage of production. It has nurtured numerous talented queer filmmakers and provided a stable foundation for high-quality queer film creation. Notably, Going My Home (2019) by SHIN Jong-hun(Director) won Best Short Film at the Hong Kong Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, Ice by LEE Sung-wook(Director) won the Special Jury Prize, the Critics’ Award, and the Audience Award at the Busan Independent Film Festival, and Cicada (2020) by YOON Dae-won(Director) won Second Prize in the Cinéfondation section at the Cannes Film Festival.

Through these achievements, the PRIDE FILM PROJECT continues to demonstrate its excellence, discovering exceptional directors and presenting outstanding queer films every year.
