Synopsis
The alleys of Nagwon-dong (“Paradise Neighborhood”) in Jongno, a district in Seoul, start to fill up with new faces each weekend night. Here, men-loving men gather in twos and threes and assuage their tough lives over a drink, meet friends, and look for love. For decades, Nagwon-dong has been a little paradise indeed for Korean gay men in Seoul. Miracle on Jongno Street is a documentary that depicts the lives of four friends we met in Jongno. Aspiring director Joon-moon creates gay movies. Social activist Byoung-gwon dreams of workplaces that are free of discrimination against sexual minorities. Country gay boy Young-soo finds a new joy in life by participating in the gay chorus G-Voice. Yol practices a politics of love by participating in the HIV-positive/AIDS rights movement. Disclosing his gay identity along with these four gay friends, the director seeks to tell the world the true meaning of coming out.
